Driving a centrifugal compressor with an engine driver, in lieu of an electric motor, may signifacantly reduce power costs, especially if methane digester gas is available or the plant is near a natural gas pipeline. Especially attractive are engine drivers for the purpose of power shaving. During peak power demands, surcharges can be reduced, or advantage taken of power rebates for using alternative sources of power.
